On the WMO OSCAR/Surface - Web Client Tool to add the Latitude and Longitude entries the example says:

Latitude: 81.3 or 12 13 14N|S
Longitude: 75.3 or 11 19 17E|W

When I enter entries as latitude 12 13 14S and longitude 11 19 17E|W in the WMO OSCAR/Surface - Web Client Tool in PROD mode the outcome is the same for all the entries when verifying in OSCAR Surface.

The coordinates appear as:

18.0000°N, 177.0000°E
17.0000°N 178.0000°E
16.0000°N 178.0000°E

WMO OSCAR/Surface - Web Client Tool it is in the form:

17 66 67S 177 53 33E
17 58 33S 177 68 33E
16 76 67S 178 75 00E
16 58 33S 179 05 00E
16 66 67S 178 90 00E
16 81 67S 179 86 67W

Though I am following the examples the output is different. I would like to know if anyone in the Southern Hemisphere is experiencing the same issue I have? Any advise is appreciated.

Regards,
Len

Dear Len,

I can confirm this is a bug and we will fix it. Shall be announced here once its working.

In the meantime, please use the decimal system.

Sorry for the late response,

Timo

In converting coordinates from dd mm ss to dd.dddd, please bear in mind that the required precision in OSCAR/Surface and WMDR is 4 digits or more. These digits should not be patched with 0s (zeroes). but should allow the location of observing facilities on a map at the building level.
