BIPs Review Discussion Forum

Dear BIP-review meeting attendees,

During your small-group discussions on the BIP-M, please consider the following:

 •  do you accept the approach and level of detail in WMO-No.1083
    for the BIP-M?

•  are there any important topics that are missing, e.g. service areas
    (aviation, marine, public weather), impact-based forecasting, DRR,
    use of new technologies? Is the BIP-M the proper place for these
    additions?
    - what will a meteorologist be doing in 5 to 10 years from now?
    - what should the relationship be between competency frameworks and the BIP-M?

•  are there topics that should be reduced or omitted?

•  how can we meet the needs of least developed countries that
    struggle to train and retain qualified staff?

•  are the two categories of personnel still valid? (see WMO-No.1083
    part 3.2)

•  should we add an assessment tool to WMO-No.1083 to help 
   assess when learning outcomes have been achieved?
