Dear CALMeters

Greetings!

A new day has broken, but before we begin, let's recap about what happened yesterday. Day three started at 5.00 UTC with the Supporting Satellite Meteorology Training chaired by Vesa. The 3 contributors have shared their training experiences. Ines first talked about how to use a notebook for satellite training, while Bodo shared his inspiring work of a self-paced Moodle quiz as a classroom activity where participants jointly will have to find answers within 3 different opportunities by discussing with each other. The last contributor, Ibrahim, presented an overview of the work in building bridges in Meteorological satellite training in the Middle East, taking advantage of the regional group discussion among others.

The session continued with a Workshop on Opportunities, Challenges & Promising Practices in Environmental Satellite Training, hosted by Amy, Keliann, and Lee-Ann, which was conducted after, at 06.30 UTC. We were provided with a short video of a colorful satellite image and asked to identify the gap that existed, and then further develop a training plan on how to address that gap. We also discussed how to do that activity of gap analysis and training plan development better.

Later in the day, at 12 UTC there was a workshop provided by Tsvet, Russell, and Fabienne on the role of AI in training and Professional Development. After an introduction to AI, what is possible, and how it is already used in our Meteorological community, then we had the chance to experience it ourselves and reflect on how we feel about the development of AI in the near future.

The day-3 closed with the Session led by Mick Pope on Supporting Training for Meteorological Professionals 2 which had 5 contributors. Bonnie Haselgrove and Ross Bunn both shared their experiences in implementing the content delivery with Articulate 360,  continued by Sun Jingrong who talked about experiences on how information technology helps CMATC Optimize Network Training Mode. The two last presenters were Carolina Cerrudo from SNM Argentina shared her experiences in conducting continuous training processes in Impact-based forecast and alerts that involved stakeholders since the planning phase, and John Carlo Lambrento from PAGASA Philippines talked on Agrometeorologist Training Course: A Collaborative Venture into Education and Training.

Happy to see that discussion now become more intensive in the asynchronous forums on the Group pages. Please let them continue. Kindly be reminded, to see what happened in the past live sessions, the recordings are available on the "Information for Synchronous Sessions & the Recordings of the Events that happened in this Group" page. The first session and workshop recording you will find on the page of Group 1, the recording of the Role of AI in training and professional Development is available on the page of Group 7, and the last session is on the page of Group 4.
