How do we recruit new talent to work as meteorologists?

Hi all,

One major point of discussion during yesterday's session on Supporting Meteorological Professionals was the recruitment of new talent to work in the field. Many participants reported that few people are entering educational programs in meteorology and even fewer remain to work in the field.

How is your institution recruiting new talent to work in the field? Please share your strategies.

Hi Tsvet,

This is a big issue since meteorologists has specific roles and need specific skills, I work at a provincial level Met agency, and we recruit new member even those not with related background, we give like an orientation for 1 to 3 months (Depending on how fast they can follow the learning process). And we do the refreshment capacity building regularly (twice a year).
