Dear Participants of the Executive Training Programme,

On behalf of WMO, I am looking forward to welcoming you to the “Executive Training Programme on Leadership and Management of National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHSs)”, which is being organized in collaboration with the South African Weather Service (SAWS), and will be taking place from 23 to 27 October 2023, in Sandton, Johannesburg, South Africa.

As we are only two weeks away from the start of the Programme, I would like to draw your attention to some important and practical information.

1- Pre-programme Survey:

The Executive Training Programme will be delivered in collaboration with Henley Business School, globally recognized for executive development. Please find attached the “Preliminary Programme and Training Schedule”, as of today. It will be updated based on your input provided in the pre-programme survey. In order to ensure a tailored and exceptional learning experience, you are kindly requested to participate in a brief survey, which is available in English and French and will take only a few minutes. Your input will provide valuable insights into the specific characteristics of your respective environments, ultimately helping us make this programme as impactful as possible for you.

IMPORTANT: Please click the “Pre-programme Survey”, select your preferred language, and submit your feedback as soon as it is convenient for you but no later than Wednesday11 October 2023, at 12:00 UTC

2- Website:

WMO will maintain a Website for the event, which is available without a login for the moment. You will also find the “Information Note” and “Preliminary Programme and Training Schedule” there. The site will be used to share the resources in English and French, when available.

3- Logistic Information:

Please note that booking your accommodation either in the venue hotel or a nearby hotel, and arranging your transportation through shuttle buses or public transportation will be your responsibility. Find attached the “Information Note”, which contains important information, including the venue of the event, practical information on how to reach Sandton from Airport, visa information, weather, etc. You are highly encouraged to engage the South African Missions based in your respective countries for further insight and assistance. It has been brought to our attention that some countries do not a South African Embassy and the visa need to be arranged with a neighboring country. Should you need a personalised invitation letter for visa application, kindly engage with the Local Organizing Committee.

We look forward to meeting you in South Africa and wish you a safe journey.

Best regards,

(for DrYinka R. Adebayo)
