Dear WIGOS Community,
We are pleased to announce that the WMO Secretariat will organize online webinars on the process for the designation of Global Basic Observing Network (GBON) stations, part 2. These webinars are a follow up from the October 2022 webinars and their request to continue the series of webinars including with interpretation in all WMO languages. The webinars will be held in 2 time zones with the following schedule:
- 5 January 2023, 05:00 to 07:00 UTC (English with Arabic, Chinese, French and Russian interpretation)
- 5 January 2023, 14:00 to 16:00 UTC (English with Arabic, French, Russian and Spanish interpretation)
The objective of the webinar is to provide technical knowledge to Members, in particular via their National Focal Points (NFPs) on WIGOS and NFPs on OSCAR/Surface on how to undertake the process for the designation of GBON stations in response to WMO Circular 8876/2022/I/WIGOS/ONM/GBON dated 15 August 2022, including GBON requirements and how to conduct national gap analysis and contribution plan. This will also be another opportunity to interact with the NFPs, reply to their questions and bring clarifications on the process.
