I checked  stations  with a yellow  dot in WDQMS, it seems that "No match in OSCAR/Surface"

but stations are described in OSCAR/Surface

Bakuriani -  0-268-0-37524

Tsageri - 0-268-0-37298

Mukhrani - 0-268-0-37541

Could you please help me?

Thank you in advance.

Best regards,

Dear Tamara,

The yellow dots you see for the three stations you mentioned have to do with the positions reported from each of the NWP Centres. When the station coordinates sent by the NWP Centres  differ more than 10km from the coordinates recorded in OSCAR/Surface, it is assumed that there is no match and you will find the NWP-ID. This is the case for the coordinates sent by JMA (37298, 37541)  and NCEP (37541, 37524). However, you can also find the three stations identified by their WSIs, which match the information coming from the other NWP Centres (e.g. ECMWF).  The stations  Mukhrani and Bakuriani are displayed in green and Tsageri in grey. Be aware that  the station Akhaltsikhe  is almost on top of the station Bakuriani  so you need to zoom in.  Although this may be a bit confusing for the data providers, it is an important piece of information for the NWP Centres. In this way, the use of inaccurate station metadata in the NWP models is highlighted and may help explain some of the differences we  find between the observations and the model (large bias in O-B)  in the quality maps.

Regards,

Cristina
