Dear participants,

The Fourteenth WMO Symposium on Education and Training (SYMET-14) is starting today, so we share this announcement to give you some information about what to expect this week and also ask you to take a few actions before the start of the symposium.

With registrations now closed, we have published new information on the SYMET-14 site. This includes links to attend the live online sessions, as well as details about the plans and themes for Working Group Discussions and poster viewing. Please do take some time to familiarize yourself with the site and information that is available. The main link to join the plenary session, just in case you read this late, is called, Click here to join the Sessions in Day 1.

The virtual poster session is also ready for visitors. Authors have been working hard designing and uploading their posters to have their areas looking good. Access link is provided under the Poster Sessions section of the SYMET website.

This will not be a symposium of presentations only. You are a critical, active part of the discussions that will take place during the week! There will be plenty of opportunities for contributing, starting with a WMO Global Campus Panel session on Day 1, continuing through the Thematic and Regional and Language-specific Working Groups, and culminating in the plenaries that will help us aggregate all your recommendations into the SYMET-14 Statement.

To assist us organizing the Working Groups, we call on your collaboration to sign up to attend the Thematic Working Groups and the Reginal and Language-specific Working Groups. This will help the Working Group chairs to plan the week, because it will indicate the number of participants intending to attend each Working Group.

Almost all Live sessions will come to you through WMO Zoom. There is no need to for additional Zoom registration. Just follow the links provided. Interpretation will be provided in the plenary discussions, with simultaneous translation into all 6 WMO official languages. Within Zoom, you will see how to change to your preferred language.

As a final reminder, the SYMET-14 website link is  https://etrp.wmo.int/course/view.php?id=220

Looking forward to meeting you online next week.

On behalf of the SYMET-14 Co-Chairs Dr. Anna Timofeeva and Prof. Andrew Charlton-Perez
