Day 1: Monday – Introduction to WIS 2.0

The WIS 2.0 Training Workshop will begin with presentation of the national observation networks and IT infrastructure of the participating countries. This first part serves to provide a overview of the current capabilities and facilities available in the participants’ countries.

The first day will then proceed with an overview of WIS 2.0: introducing the WIs2 architecture, key concepts, and the role of different global services used. The afternoon session outlines the implementation plan for WIS 2.0, as well as the provisions for the transition from GTS/WIS1 to WIS 2.0.

Finally, the new operation model of WIS2 is presented, outlining the new roles GISCs have in WIS2 in supporting the implementation of WIS2 and ensuring the smooth operation of data exchange in the WIS2 network.
