What is the meaning of 48///?
4PPPP = 4 is atmospheric pressure on at medium sea level, in HPa and decimals. (without thousand numbers). Those stations at high altitude will use the group 4aghhh, where “ag” means standard pressure level, in geopotential meters (eg: 1:1000 HPa / 5:5000 HPa / 7:7000 HPa / 8:8500 HPa) – “hhh” meters above sea level (hundred, ten and units) geopotencial meters of constant pressure showed by “ag”.
When station altitude exceed with more of 500 meters (reference level where pressure reduction is common) and is not possible to calculate standard pressure level, Synop code will be 3POPOPOPO WHERE POPOPOPO is local pressure at station in HPa units, ten (without thousand numbers) .
Note: If this explanation is not true, please tell me
