Input of Observation/Measurement - Height of the snow cover [cm]

Hello,

I have been trying to add new meteorological stations from Slovenia. On several of our stations, we also measure the parameter - height of the snow cover.

I have been looking in https://codes.wmo.int/_wmdr registry and I cannot find the parameter for SNOW.

Can you, please, advice me on this matter? Is it possible to input this measurement to OSCAR or not?

Thank you for your reply,

Regards,

Vesna

Hello Vesna

Here in the UK we use the following OSCAR Surface measurement program for snow depth:

Atmosphere - Terrestrial - Land/ Surface - Snow/ Ice/ Glacier - snow - snow depth.

Does that cover your requirement?

Regards

Stuart

Thank you for your reply - you have pointed us into right direction.
After discussing parameter with my college, we found this one:

https://codes.wmo.int/wmdr/ObservedVariableTerrestrial/_629
Snow depth
Vertical distance from the snow surface to a stated reference level.

This parameter has description correct for our station case.

Vesna

Dear Vesna,

Thank you for posting questions in the forum and I apology for replying late.

Regarding your question, I agree with Stuart that you could go with the measurement of snow depth. Please find here a similiar case. It is a station from China which measures snow depth and has relative metadata registered in OSCAR/Surface. I hope that this is of help to you.

With kind regards,
Ran
