Thank you for your active participation in Day 1 of CALMet XVI. It was inspiring to see the energy, curiosity, and community spirit across the three time zones as we opened this year’s conference.

Our first day, dedicated to the theme Collaboration, set a strong foundation for the week. Across Eastern, Florence, and Western sessions, we explored how partnerships, shared experience, and community support shape the strength of our education and training systems. The asynchronous forums of Day 1 Forum provided for you to continue the discussion, and we encourage you to revisit the group pages to share reflections, questions, and ideas.

As we move into Day 2 – Experience, we invite you to continue exploring new ideas, practical insights, and shared learning across the three time zones. Each region offers a rich programme of keynotes, workshops, and discussions designed to deepen our understanding of how experience-based learning strengthens meteorological and hydrological training. This also means, we discuss about failures, embrace the imperfectness and use them as the positive energy to move forward and growth.

Let us see what’s happening today in each time zone:

🌟 Looking Ahead to Day 2 – Experience

Day 2 focuses on Experience — how we learn from real practice, how knowledge is applied in operational settings, and how hands-on engagement builds the skills needed for modern meteorological and hydrological services.

Across the time zones, you will find a rich variety of workshops, case-based discussions, and practical demonstrations. Here’s what to expect:

🌏 Eastern Time Zone (Online Programme, 01:00 UTC)

Today’s sessions feature: A keynote on rebuilding fire-weather competencies, A case study on mobile-based micro-course systems, A reflective session on the importance of balancing online and face-to-face learning and Practical examples of flip-to-classroom design.

🇮🇹 Florence Time Zone (Hybrid Programme, 08:00–17:00 UTC)

In Florence, participants will take part in hands-on learning activities, demonstrations, and discussions led by trainers and practitioners. These sessions blend online and in-person contributions, allowing everyone to benefit from live interaction while accessing all shared resources through Moodle.

This full hybrid day is designed to provide both local and virtual participants with tangible learning experiences.

🌍 Western Time Zone – 17:00 UTC

Experience Through Practice & Peer Exchange

In the Western block, the day continues with a session featuring examples of practice-based learning and experience sharing from across the community. This is a great opportunity to connect with colleagues, hear concrete cases from training organizations, and discuss what works — and what doesn’t — in real-world learning. The Regional Discussion for Western Group will also be conducted in this Day-2.

🔁 Recordings & Asynchronous Discussions

If you missed a live session in another time zone, recordings will be uploaded to the corresponding group pages as soon as they become available.
Discussion forums remain open throughout the week for ongoing conversation. Please keep the dialogue going — your contributions help build the collective knowledge of the CALMet community.
