Double station registration and WDQMS

Double station registration and WDQMS

Hello everyone, I wish you all the best.

I have 2 problems in WDQMS and related OSCAR/Surface. You can find the screenshots link below.

1) Name: BITLIS MERKEZ, WIGOS-ID: 0-792-0-17208. There is another station with this station number (17208). Naturally, it has the "Unknown" sign. This station seems to send data only to DWD. We do not have such a station.

2) ADANA BOLGE WIGOS-ID: 0-20000-0-17351. This station has only Radiosonde observations. I have edited the metadata entry in OSCAR/SURFACE accordingly. However, it still appears that "Pressure and Humidity" values are expected in the WDQMS Surface Land Observations section and therefore it constantly gets a black dot.

How can we solve these problems?

Best Regards

Dear Ozden,

about 1) . I think you will be able to fix this by correcting the coordinates of this station in OSCAR/Surface. This station reports in TAC and BUFR and I think the coordinates are different in the BUFR and in OSCAR/Surface. DWD seem to use the TACs and then WDQMS cannot match it with OSCAR/Surface, because the distance between the coordinates is more than 10km. This is a safety feature to avoid matching stations accidentally.

about 2). This is a bug. We will fix it. You have correctly documented the station as not reporting surface pressure in OSCAR/Surface.

with kind regards,
Timo
