Reporting interval in OSCAR/Surface

Reporting interval in OSCAR/Surface

At an airport station, SYNOPs are reported every 3 hours and METARs are reported every 30 minutes.

In this case, how should the reporting interval be set in OSCAR/Surface?

My understanding is that it's the reporting interval for SYNOP that should be set. Is this correct?

If I also want to register the reporting interval for METAR, should I create two reporting schedules, set the international exchange flag to true for SYNOP, and set the flag to false for METAR?

Although METAR is also exchanged internationally, is this the only way to be evaluated correctly by WDQMS?

Dear Hidehiro,

Apologies for the very late reply. There was an issue with the portal that had prevented us from receiving notifications of new posts.

Your understanding is correct that, in OSCAR/Surface, for a station that is sending METAR and SYNOP, only the reporting cycle of SYNOP has to be declared in OSCAR/Surface. Currently, METARs are not monitored via the WDQMS Web Tool.

And yes, if you wish to describe the reporting cycle for METAR, you should create a separate reporting schedule.

Thank you, best regards,

Luis
