Dear WIGOS community,

WMO launched a new module for the monitoring of Global Basic Observing Network (GBON) stations, as part of the WIGOS Data Quality Monitoring System (WDQMS) Web Tool, on Tuesday 17 May 2023.

The new GBON module is included in Version 1.4.0 of the WDQMS Web Tool, which also includes a feature to show the date-time of the last synchronization with OSCAR/Surface, on the database status page.

The new GBON module monitors the performance of surface land and upper air land GBON stations. Daily and monthly* aggregation results are available, regarding observations from 1st May 2023, for both surface and upper-air GBON stations, while 6 hours aggregated results are available for surface GBON stations.

*Monthly aggregated results option will become available from the 1st June 2023.

The current version of the new GBON module provides monitoring results for the data availability only, of surface and upper-air observations.

It is planned that after Congress-19 only the approved GBON stations (initial GBON composition) will be shown/monitored on the new module.
