Dear National Focal Points (NFPs) on WIGOS and NFPs on OSCAR/Surface,
We are pleased to announce that the WMO Secretariat will organize online webinars on the process for the designation of Global Basic Observing Network (GBON) stations by inviting NFPs on WIGOS and NFPs on OSCAR/Surface. The webinars will be held in 3 time zones to cover all Regional Associations and with the following schedule:
- Regional Associations I and VI: 6 October 2022, 08:00 to 10:00 UTC (English with French interpretation)
- Regional Associations II and V: 7 October 2022, 06:00 to 08:00 UTC (English)
- Regional Associations III and IV: 7 October 2022, 13:00 to 15:00 UTC (English with Spanish interpretation)
The objective of the webinar is to provide technical knowledge to Members via their NFPs on WIGOS and NFPs on OSCAR/Surface on how to undertake the process for the designation of GBON stations in response to WMO Circular 8876/2022/I/WIGOS/ONM/GBON dated 15 August 2022, including GBON requirements and how to conduct national gap analysis and contribution plan. This will also be an opportunity to interact with the National Focal Points, reply their questions and bring clarifications.
Feel free to attend any of the 3 webinars regardless of your Regional Association (same programme for the 3 webinars).
