Dear WIGOS community,

First, we would like to thank those who have participated in the WIGOS Webinars in 2021, recognizing the covid-19 related challenging conditions many of you have been facing.

In order to better contribute to further building the WIGOS community we would like to inform you that we are opening up the invitations to speak at the WIGOS Webinars to all the users of the WIGOS tools. We are going to start, from January 2022, with some of the most relevant users, i.e. the Regional WIGOS Centres (RWCs), but also extending the opportunity to, basically, anyone who would like to share their experiences and lessons learned, issues and concerns, views and suggestions, in relation to WIGOS national or regional implementation and operations, and especially to those interested in discussing any topic related to OSCAR/Surface, WDQMS and Incident Management System.

Therefore, for the two initial Webinars to be held in January and February 2022, we are happy to announce that the RA II RWCs recently designated as operational centres (RWC-Beijing, China and RWC-Tokyo, Japan) have accepted the invitations to deliver presentations on their activities on the following dates/times:

  · Webinar #28 - Monday, 17 January 2022, 12 UTC, RWC-Beijing

  · Webinar #29 - Monday, 14 February 2022, 12 UTC, RWC-Tokyo

As usual, an announcement for each Webinar will be published one to two weeks in advance, confirming (or not) the initial planned dates and providing more details.

We would like to extend, from right now, the invitation to other RWCs as well as to any individuals (experts, national focal points, etc) from any Member country, who are engaged/working on WIGOS topics, to address the community at one of the following webinars in 2022.

Those whishing to do so are encouraged to contact me by email, and we'll discuss possible dates and topics to be covered.

We hope this new approach will contribute to further strengthen the WIGOS community, towards improving the uptake of the WIGOS tools and the activities of the Regional WIGOS Centres as well as towards establishing RWCs where they don't exist yet.

Wishing you all a happy and healthy year-end break,

and looking forward to seeing more participation and interactive WIGOS Webinars!

Luis
