This
online learning module covers two optical phenomena, polar
stratospheric and noctilucent clouds. It explains the physical concepts
behind these two special types of clouds and the circumstances under
which they can occur.
It will be part of a series of online learning modules on optical
phenomena, which will be shared with the community as soon as they are
fully developed and ready for use.
Expected Learning Outcomes
- Explain the concept of polar stratospheric and noctilucent clouds.
- Explain under which circumstances either of them may occur.
- Decide whether these optical phenomena may occur or not in specific situations based on meteorological data.
- Distinguish between these two optical phenomena.
Target Audience
Forecasters,
weather observers and all others who want to learn more about the
optical phenomena called polar stratospheric clouds and noctilucent
clouds.
