In this lesson, learners will use grid-point and area probabilities to determine whether to issue a heavy precipitation warning for three areas.

• Decide whether to issue a precipitation warning based on grid-point and area probability maps
• Interpret and communicate information from ensemble products 
• Explain the difference between grid-point and area probability in both high and low resolution ensembles
• Determine why information is lost when going from probabilistic forecasts to categorical warning
• Explain why it is not appropriate to verify a probabilistic forecast based on a single observation
