Introduction

Overview

This WIS 2.0  training workshop for Spanish speaking countries in Latin-America is a follow-up to the WIS2 Training held in 2023. The aim of this workshop is to translate the foundational knowledge of WIS2 into practical skills that enable countries to benefit from sharing and receiving data weather data over the WIS2 network to improve their local meteorological services.

Main objectives

• to enhance the configuration of WIS2 nodes as data providers and consumers, including automated downloading of datasets required for operational forecasting and early warning services.
• to develop skills to install, configure and integrate the WIS2 Downloader
• to build practical competencies in automated workflows for data ingestion, conversion, dissemination, retrieval, and system monitoring, and reliable WIS2 operations.
• to improve the use of open-source tools for data decoding and visualization.
• to understand the steps required to complete the GTS-to-WIS2 transition
• to support the development of regional trainers to sustain and expand WIS2 capacity in the region
