If connectivity is an issue while participating in this course, you may want to use the Moodle App on your phone or tablet. This app allows you to download the course to your mobile device and interact with the course content while offline (read and post to forums, read and submit assignments, etc.). Once you reconnect to your cellular or wifi network, your interactions will synchronise with the WMO Moodle server. This can be very handy if you lack reliable internet access. It works very well for reviewing course content and monitoring and posting to forums when away from your computer.

There are limitations using mobile devices as many assignments call for drafting and submitting content using Microsoft Word and Excel documents. Unless you are experienced using Microsoft products on your mobile device, you will most likely want to use a desktop or laptop computer for most assignments and have a reliable internet connection to submit assignment documents.

If you would like to use the Moodle App, follow these steps:

1. On your mobile device (Android or Apple phone or tablet), go to the app store, search for "Moodle Mobile" and download and install the app. Be sure to only use the official app made available by Moodle Pty Ltd. The app icon looks like this:

You can also access the Google Play and Apple App stores with direct links to the app at https://download.moodle.org/mobile

2. Once the app is installed, access the WMO Moodle site by typing "etrp.wmo.int" and tapping on "Connect to your site"

3. Log into the WMO ETR Moodle site with your Username and Password:

4. Courses you are enrolled in are listed in the Dashboard tab. If needed, you can filter your list of courses. Tap the course you wish to access:

You now have full access to the course in the app while online.

5. To download the course for offline use, tap the download icon at the top of the screen:

You can download the entire course or select individual sections or activities:

If your phone has limited storage capacity, you might not be able to download the entire course. Instead, download just the activities or sections that are currently active.

You can delete downloads by tapping the trash can for a downloaded section or activity. Or you can tap "Delete all" to delete all downloaded course material.

Synchronize your offline activity

When the app is open and your mobile device is connected to the internet, any offline activity you have done (like posting to a forum) should synchronize with the WMO ETR Moodle server. However, in order to assure that your activity is properly synchronized, it is alway good practice to manually synchronize the app. To do so, follow these steps when you first reconnect to the internet after offline use of the app:

1. Access your Profile by tapping on your profile icon:

2. Tap Preferences:

3. Tap "Synchronize now":

Notifications on your mobile device

If you would like to receive notifications from the Moodle app on your mobile device, turn on notifications. The settings for notifications are unique to your mobile device and operating system.

For iPhones and iPads, go to Settings > Notifications and scroll down to the list of apps. Find the Moodle app, select it and turn notifications on.

For Android devices, follow a similar process: go to Settings > Applications > Applications manager (or Apps > Settings > Application manager) and select the Moodle app. Then select Show notifications or Allow notifications.
