Attempt: 21

Whose alerts do you trust?

It is important to know where an alert comes from and by whose authority. Without that knowledge, how do you know that an alert is authentic and trustworthy? In order for media organizations and alert aggregators (such as Google and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies) to know where to look for official alert messages, a central register of alerting authorities was established by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). In this video segment, you will learn about the role the WMO plays in maintaining an internationally recognized Register of Alerting Authorities.
