Station Class / GBON status

Station Class / GBON status

I recieved this message from RWC EUMETNET: Colleagues at DWD noticed while updating our station lists for EUCOS monitoring that Bramon (0-20000-0-02368) is not fully declared as GBON in OSCAR/Surface. The programme/network affiliation is set as GBON, but the station class is blank, and this is causing issues with the OSCAR API when retrieving the list of EUMETNET GBON stations.

I had no authorisation to change the Station Class. Who can help me?

Dear Cristoffer,

you need to add an observed variable of "atmospheric pressure" to the station, as GBON stations need to measure at least pressure.

Stations classes are "virtual" attributes. The GBON surface station class requires a station to be affiliated with GBON and measure atmospheric pressure.

with kind regards,

Timo

Thank you Timo, this was news to me as I thought that the network as a whole could fulfill the requirements, i.e. that a station could be GBON by measuring one of the GBON variables.
