Discrepancy between WIGOS ID and WRD ID

Discrepancy between WIGOS ID and WRD ID

Dear,

There is a discrepancy for the radar site IDs between WIGOS and WRD. For example, for our site at Wideumont (Belgium):

WIGOS ID (from OSCAR): 0-20000-0-06482

WRD ID (from https://wrd.mgm.gov.tr/Countries/Detail/LBkLxY86fIxhnQoHkenALA): 0-20010-0-06482

As I understood the WIGOS ID, both could be valid but also having two ID's for the same site/data should be avoided.

So my question are:

Are both valid?

Which one should we use?

Regards

Dear Luis,

Thank you for your message.

This is a known problem, discrepancies between WRD and OSCAR/Surface exist for other Radars. This should be fixed when WRD is fully integrated into OSCAR/Surface.

Such integration is not expected to happen very soon, it will not be possible for the phase 1 of the new OSCAR/Surface (planned to be deployed in Q1 2027), likely only for phase 2 of the new OSCAR/Surface (no fixed dates, yet).

In the meantime, ad hoc fixes may be applied. For the case you mention, and assuming that registration in OSCAR/Surface happened before registration in WRD, I'd suggest adding the WSI from WRD into OSCAR/Surface as a secondary WSI. Both WMO Secretariat and your Regional WIGOS Centre (RWC-EUMETNET) may assist as needed.

Other solutions are possible and WMO in close collaboration with MeteoSwiss and with Turkish State Meteorological Service are open to discuss them.

Thank you very much, kind regards

Luis

Dear Luis

We have a similar situation in Australia, but as NFP I cannot allocate 20010 WSIs as secondary WSI. What is the best way to request that this is done?
