Customer Needs Survey
For this assignment, you will develop or update a Costumer Needs Survey. You will use this survey in an upcoiming assignment where you are asked to interview several of your marine services customers in order to learn what their marine service needs are.
Your organization may already have a survey that's been used to collect customer information. If so, this is an opportunity to review and update it.
Assure that the survey will provide sufficient information for you to understand exactly what venues for communication, data, format, and time frames are most important to your users. If you are already providing services to this customer, consider including questions that assess the effectiveness of current services. The following information should be taken into consideration:
- Professional/recreational operations and activities that require marine meteorology forecasts
- Geographic areas of concern
- Warning and forecast product needs
- Timeliness of warnings and forecasts. What operations are most in need of forecasts well in advance?
- Communication channels required for delivering/receiving warnings and forecasts (this includes understanding both the communication channels within and from the NMHS in addition to other communication pathways to reach the end-user, such as through National Disaster Management Agencies)
- An example of a critical event involving the use of forecast products by this customer
- A means of collecting feedback for currently offered services
Develop your list of questions and format it for use during an interview with customers. When complete, submit your document for review. In some cases, you may want to convert your survey so that a customer can fill it out online using a tool such as surveymonkey.com or a Google Form.
