Using Ratings in forums to assess learning and participation

1. Introduction

When we hear the word assessment, we often think about a multiple choice quiz in a pen and paper format or an online test. Assessment is often used only at the beginning of a training intervention for admission purposes (pre-test/diagnostic) and once the course is completed for certification purposes (final test/summative). 

There is a functionality in Forum (and Glossary and Database) that allows users to rate messages.

It can be used all along the learning process.
